Open the app, pick your from and to languages, tap the microphone and speak. Voxa captures your speech, translates it and can read the result aloud. The first time you use it, Android will ask for microphone permission.
Conversation mode places two microphone buttons on screen, one for each language. Tap the button for whoever is speaking, and Voxa translates each turn so two people can talk back and forth. It's made for travel and meeting people who speak another language.
Open Camera Translator, point the camera at a sign, menu or document, and the translation appears over the original text. Grant camera permission when asked. Good lighting and steady framing improve accuracy.
The microphone is used only while you are translating speech, and the camera only while you are using camera translation. If you'd rather not grant them, you can still translate by typing text. See the translation data section of our Privacy Policy.
Voxa needs an internet connection to translate, because the translation and natural speech are produced by a cloud service. If a translation fails, check your Wi-Fi or mobile data and try again.
Automatic translation isn't perfect, especially with slang, names or long sentences. Try shorter phrases, make sure the from and to languages are set correctly, and speak clearly in a quiet place for voice input.
Your history, saved phrases and settings are stored on your device. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling removes them. Nothing in your history is tied to an account, because Voxa doesn't use one.
The text, speech or image you translate is sent securely to a cloud translation service to produce the result — that's how translation works. Because the free app is ad-supported, we also use Google Firebase, Google AdMob, Adjust and the Meta (Facebook) SDK, which process limited device and advertising identifiers. We do not access your contacts, call log or precise location. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
If a consent prompt appeared when you first opened the app, you can decline personalized ads there. You can also reset or opt out of your Advertising ID in Android via Settings → Privacy → Ads. Clearing the app's data will let the consent prompt appear again.
The app is free and supported by ads. There are currently no in-app purchases or subscriptions, so there is nothing to cancel or restore.
Clear the app's storage (Settings → Apps → Voxa → Storage → Clear data) or uninstall the app to remove on-device history and settings. To request deletion of any data held by us or our partners, email us and we'll respond within 30 days.
